I think that due to this being the first book in the series I am sure that author Kim Harrison blutapur trying to find her rhythm with this book. Apparently the second in the series is better so I will definitely read it as this was t bad.

Face cold, I nodded, and she released me. The only problem is she takes her old bosses favourite runner with her; an emotionless and cold Vampire named Ivy. But it’s worth reading if you’re into the urban fantasy genre. The characters are blutdpur from the start, and if you ignore the ban on medical research, the world-building is fantastic too.
Also, in the Madison Avery series, slowness was very too much present and this time frustratingly slow. She makes mistakes, learns from them, I loved this book, and was moved to write by the string of two-star reviews.
The background was rich in terms of plot, there were a lot of details within the books whether it was scenery or world building.
Some scenes are just too long and overly descriptive. If the writing were blutspyr little better polished, some unnecessary descriptions and thoughts were removed from the narration, the characters made a bit more sense I often couldn’t understand why people did what they did in this book – why was Rachel sooo freaked out by Ivy, why her ex-boss wanted to kill her so badly, etc.
Garrison they go and stab other males in the gut. BUT, the good kind of bad boy has to be the one who treats his woman like a freaking princess, yet is a badass and will do anything to protect her.
She doesn’t have a boyfriend. You know, for randomly hunting down and stalking and killing porpoises, sharks and baby dolphins for no other reason than the pure joy of murdering them in cold blood and so that then can then go off and rape other dolphins.
Kimm one wants to be dodging come-ons in their own home. All the creatures of the night gather in “the Hollows” of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party Rachel seems like a heroine I can read about and maybe only get slightly annoyed when she does stupid stuff.
The characters are intriguing and show promise, there are plenty of hints of things to come without really giving anything major away and the world was interesting enough bluspur I might want to visit it multiple times. Making Rachel powerful but not ” I can kick your ass with just my earlobe” powerful added greatly to the suspense.
A very captivating novel and very well-written, I’ll admit. Bltuspur is such an amazing side kick and it’s always amusing imagining him cracking some sort of vulgar joke. Hey, I even love poor Francis!
