Their stories are told in such a way that it’s easy to just listen and admire them for having a voice and telling their stories. They made thousands of kids. Finished in one shot, that’s how amazing and laughable this book was. I was enamored by her stories and the way her drawings helped illustrate the feelings she had about herself and those around her.
I’m an Amazon Affiliate. I wasn’t amazed by it but it did the job. It is an amazing book, as expected. She is also the author of the internationally best-selling and award-winning comic book autobiography in two parts, Persepolis and Persepolis 2.

Sometimes you’re on the horse’s back and sometimes it’s the horse that’s on your back. But it’s ultimately also pretty thin stuff — and feels closer in quality and presentation to a TV sit-com than a decent book.
Satrapi grew up in Tehran in a family which was involved with communist and socialist movements in Iran prior to the Iranian Revolution. Embroideries is another of Marjane Satrapi’s autobiographical books, heavy on the comic book-type illustrations, fairly light on the text. During this time, Satrapi went to numerous illegal parties hosted by her friends, where she met a man named Reza, a veteran of the Iran-Iraq War.

My favourite part was where one of the women is telling the others about a friend who tried to fake her virginity but instead somehow managed to accidently cut her husband’s testicle with a razor blade. But it is at the same time a daring and brilliantly calculated illumination of a secret space. In the way most of them are presented broderiies remain memorable — if at all — for their particular sexual mishap the woman with the razor blade
