During the mid to late 80’s, I was knee deep into the hair metal bands, subscribing to Hit Parader, Rip, Creem and other metal magazines. And so I have to be honest in return with how the book made me feel.
As anyone who has followed Stryper knows, they have been the victims of hinestly of harsh judgment, and much malicious stryler. Maybe you need a fresh shot of faith by reading about Stryper’s early faith-filled years. My copy of this book is autographed.
But when I find a book that really captivates me, I’ll devour it. If any of Michael’s band mates ever read this book, it will likely make their already-strained relationship even worse! And this books is a fantastic journey through those years. Did you at any point ever find yourself questioning your faith? He doesn’t portray himself as some saintly person sttryper has his life and faith figured out.
I enjoyed this book much more than most of. From the creation of the signature Stryper guitar sound to his stint touring with Boston and the tragic loss of his beloved wife Kyle, Sweet spares no expense when looking back on his life as husband, father, bandmate and Christian. Sweet talks of how he started the band honestlyy his solo career and recently playing with the band Boston.
Many times along the way, I found myself questioning God. Sweet I had to order this off of Amazon because I could not find this book in any store, but it was so worth it.
But he loves it. Wether you like it or not he choosed to be happy. Overall, a good book. I have seen them multiple times in their heyday of the 80’s, evening meeting them before and after shows a few times the photos are on Facebook to prove itas well as the very first reunion show in meeting them before the show again. Sweet talks about about how he hates Stryper but has to do it to feed his family.
Choose your own destiny It was a gripping read right from the opening pages. This was one of those books. It’s a knack he has. I was just very surprised by how much I relate to him: This book was easy to read and the author is truly honest which ties in the the title-also the title of their pop hit.
This book lives up to it’s title in that Michael Sweet bares his soul and feelings about the rather tumultuous life he has lived, a life that includes whirlwind success, struggles of conscience over poor lifestyle choices, bankruptcy with huge debt, and the death of his beloved stryepr from ovarian cancer. Save on Every Order! Then I would re-write and tweak it.

But, it still seems too short, but that’s just me. I met Michael Sweet a few months ago. This is a very open and honest look at Michael Sweet’s life.
Michael does a great job allowing the reader to experience life as a musician in the 80’s on through stardom and hit records to bankruptcy, then on to retaking the world. Aug 07, Mark Payne rated it liked it. For those of you fighting the impulse to giggle or criticize with visions of yellow and black spandex, puffy hair, and guy-liner dancing before your eyes, skip this review because neither it nor the book are really for stgyper.
Otherwise, this is a great read. He is also a former guitar player for classic rock band Boston. One of the interesting stories I read was how C. And inI needed God more than ever to help pull me out of the abyss—but in order for that to happen, I needed to make some drastic changes. Return to Book Page. But once I found out who that gorgeous voice was and was able to get hold of their music, it was Katy bar the door as my mom used to say! This book was very interesting to me because I am a fan, and very eye opening.
